Bayne Seeking First Win of 2012

Concord, N.C. (September 10, 2012) – 2011 Daytona 500 Champion Trevor Bayne is chomping at the bit to get another crack at NASCAR immortality.  Many drivers struggle their entire careers to get that elusive win in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, but Bayne was able to breakthrough in only his second career Sprint Cup start, making him the youngest winner of the Daytona 500 and the second youngest ever to win at NASCAR’s premiere level. Bayne and the No. 21 Wood Brothers team will head to Chicago this weekend with aspirations of shocking the world again and spoiling it for the 12 Sprint Cup Chase contenders who open the NASCAR version of the playoffs in the windy city.  It will be a daunting task for Bayne this weekend considering he only has one start at Chicago, but as Bayne has so eloquently said, “that’s why we race”.

“I am always looking to set the bar extremely high for myself”, said Bayne.  “I have worked hard to get here and I plan on staying around for a while. In order to stay relevant in this sport you must be competitive and win. Winning is the ultimate goal every week and as long as I keep that mindset everything else will fall into place.”

Crew chief Donnie Wingo echoes Bayne’s sentiment.  “Our goal is the same every week. We want to be competitive and be around at the end of the race.  If you can make your race car better throughout a race and keep up with the ever changing track conditions, you will have a solid finish.  We run a limited schedule and we only have a few opportunities to seize the moment and run well.”
