Bristol, Tenn. (Aug. 24, 2013) – Greg Biffle led Roush Fenway Racing with a ninth-place finish in Saturday night’s Sprint Cup showdown at Bristol Motor Speedway. It marked Biffle’s third consecutive top-10 finish and moved him up a sport to ninth in the point standings.
RFR entered the race looking to break back into the win column at NASCAR’s most frantic half-mile, and for much of the race Carl Edwards looked as if he would power his Fastenal Ford to the team’s 11th Sprint Cup victory at Bristol.
However, after qualifying third, taking the lead early and leading a race-high 119 laps, Edwards was forced to take his No. 99 behind the wall with a mechanical issue – finishing 39th. With only two races remaining before the Chase cutoff, Edwards remains third in the standings.
RFR rookie Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was running top-10 late, but finished 18th after coming up short on fuel.
Roush Fenway and the NASCAR Series return to action next weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway, where RFR has posted six wins in the NSCS; including three by Edwards.
