Brooklyn, Mich. (August 16, 2013) – Defending race winner Greg Biffle qualified his No. 16 FIRST Ford 16th for the Pure Michigan 400. The No. 16 qualified 16th on August 16th and will be in pit stall 16 for the race. One year ago Biffle took home the win right here in the backyard of Roush Industries and Ford, and in the spring he claimed Ford’s 1,000th NASCAR win. Biffle had a late qualifying draw, but the sun was out which made for a slower qualifying effort.
“I think the sun played into that quite a bit,” said Biffle after his qualifying lap. “I would hope to think it played into it quite a bit. It probably wasn’t the full half second but it was part of it. We just need more overall grip than what we just had there. I was also a little bit tight, so we will have to work on that and get ready for Sunday.”
There are two practice sessions Saturday morning for the team to get the No. 16 FIRST Ford dialed in to defend their back-to-back wins at the 2.0-mile track. The Pure Michigan 400 will be televised Sunday, August 18th on ESPN at 1pm.
