Buescher Claims Top Ten Finish in Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Mar.8, 2014) – Chris Buescher headed to Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend not knowing what to expect from the unfamiliar one-and-a-half mile track. After starting from the 12th spot to begin the day, the Roush Fenway Racing driver remained steadily inside the top 15 but would eventually fall two laps back. The No. 60 team battled their way back ending the day on the lead lap and just inside of the top 10 with a ninth place finish.

“I had a blast,” said Chris following the race.  “This was the first time here at Vegas for the 60 team and we had a really good time.  I think we came from two laps down at one point trying to get the lucky dog.  It’s tough.  These Cup guys out here are hard to beat, but it’s only gonna make us better in the long run.  This Ford EcoBoost Mustang was really good.  Our guys were awesome on pit road.  I’m excited and can’t wait for Bristol.”

The 2012 ARCA Racing Series Champion showed that he could quickly pick up on the intricacies of a new track when he improved his standings from 11th in first practice to third in final practice. The Prosper, TX native would later advance through all three rounds of qualifying to secure a 12th place starting position in the Boyd Gaming 300.

The No. 60 Ford Ecoboost Mustang was shuffled back early to the 17th spot by lap 10 but hard work by the team in the pits kept Buescher in contention after correcting a loose handling race car early on. Buescher ended up running some good lap times and stayed with the field, although much of the pack, including the Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender, fell 2 laps back. Buescher fought hard to capture the lucky dog position which he succeeded at when the caution came out with 37 laps to go. After restarting in 10th, and back on the lead lap, Buescher was able to pick up one more spot before the checkered flag waved.

Tune is as Chris Buescher and the No. 60 team take on the Drive to Stop Diabetes 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway this Saturday, March 15. Race coverage begins at 2:00p.m. on ESPN 2.
