FONTANA, Calif. (March 23, 2014) – Carl Edwards overcame tire issues to lead Roush Fenway Racing (RFR) with a 10th-place finish in Sunday’s Sprint Cup race at Auto Club Speedway. All three of the RFR Fords suffered blown tires during the race, with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Greg Biffle forced to 34th and 40th-place finishes.
With the finish Edwards took over the Sprint Cup points lead by one marker over Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Edwards and Biffle were each running inside the top 10 when they experienced the tire problems. Stenhouse ran inside the top 20 most of the race, but was unable to overcome multiple tire issues late.
RFR and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series return to action next weekend at Martinsville Speedway.
