Fontana, Calif. (Mar. 23, 2013) – In yesterday’s qualifying round at Auto Club Speedway, Carl Edwards posted a fast lap of 39.22 seconds (183.57 mph) in the Subway Ford gearing him up for a 24th place start in Sunday’s race.
“I am real frustrated right now,” said Edwards. “I thought we would run better than that. I thought we would run three-tenths faster than that in qualifying. I think Greg has a really good shot and we have had great luck with Fords here and especially Jack Roush’s Fords so hopefully we can get one in victory lane.”
Coming out of a debilitating stomach bug in Bristol, Edwards is ready to redeem himself at the Auto Club 400 and remain high in the point standings.
“I ended up taking the top and I wanted to run down to the bottom but we were just a little tight,” Edwards continued. “Three and four were awesome. Our Subway Fusion, we will get it tuned in tomorrow and be all right on Sunday.”
Tune into coverage of the Auto Club 400 on Sunday, March 24th beginning at 2:30 p.m. EST on FOX.
