Concord, N.C. (July 11, 2012) – It’s not often you get to see Roush Fenway Racing crew members dancing in their uniforms, but for a special occasion they will bust a move. Crew members of the No. 99 Fastenal Blue Team, along with members of the No. 16 3M team, spent Tuesday evening with the kids at Victory Junction Gang Camp in Randleman, N.C. It has become a tradition at camp that Tuesday nights in the summer are “NASCARnival” nights.
Crew members from both teams had dinner with the kids before having some fun at a dance party. After dancing they were able to show their real skills by doing live pit stops for the kids and helping them become part of the crew by putting lugnuts on the tires with a real air gun. When the pit stops were over it was time for more fun in the bowling alley and some carnival food like cotton candy, snow cones and Krispy Kreme doughnuts.
“I look forward to this trip every summer,” said Kale Uphoff, rear tire changer for the Blue Team. “Victory Junction is an amazing place and it’s a great feeling to be able to do something to give back to the campers there. People think we are brave to jump in front of a race car on pit road, but those kids are the brave ones.”
