Concord, N.C. (March 5, 2008) – David Ragan has quickly established himself as a driver to watch in 2008. Ragan already has two top-10 finishes in the Nationwide Series and one top-10 in the Cup Series. This weekend in Atlanta will be a homecoming for Ragan. He was born and raised in nearby Unadilla, Georgia, but called Atlanta Motor Speedway home early in his racing career. Ragan began racing in the Bandolero Series in 1997, at 11 years old. Under the guidance of his father, former Winston Cup driver, Ken Ragan, Ragan had years of experience instilled in him before he ever hit the racetrack. Ragan was able to accomplish all many of his early goals, winning multiple races on his way to a national championship in 1999.
This Saturday will mark his second career start in the Nationwide Series at Atlanta. The entire Ragan family will be on-hand to share in this experience. In a perfect world the race will end with Ragan and the Discount Tire team in victory lane. That remains to be seen, but one thing is certain, one will know where the Ragan fan club is at all times Saturday afternoon.
“My family has sacrificed so much to get me here today,” said Ragan. “I am truly blessed to have them share in this experience with me. It doesn’t matter if I run well or not, they always give me advice on how to be a better person on and off the track. That guidance is invaluable and it will make me a better race car driver in the future. With that said, I would love to get that first win at my home track this weekend. That would mean the world to me.”
