Dover, Del. (May 29, 2009) – Matt Kenseth turned a lap of 23.179 (155.313 mph) around the Monster Mile of Dover International Speedway to qualify 14th for Sunday’s Autism Speaks 400.
“We were up in the top five in practice and didn’t really get the best draw here with the sun,” said Kenseth. “But, really we just kind of missed it in qualifying. The track changed or something and we didn’t change with it and were just off.
“So far I’ve been happy with the car, but I was happy with it in qualifying trim, too, and it didn’t qualify good, but, so far, it’s been OK.”
Kenseth, who started his first career Sprint Cup race at Dover in 1998, finished top five in both races at Dover last season and has seven top fives, 12 top-10’s, a win and two poles in 20 starts at the one-mile track.
Green flag for the race is set 2:00 p.m. EDT. The race will be televised by FOX Network, with prerace coverage set for 1:30 p.m.
