Kenseth's Ford Ecoboost Fusion Set to Start 18th

Kansas City, KS (April 21, 2012) – Matt Kenseth and his No. 17 Roush Fenway team traveled to 1.5-mile Kansas Speedway for this weekend’s STP 400 events.  Kenseth’s No. 17 Ford EcoBoost Fusion was tight in the middle and loose off the corners during Friday’s practice sessions as the team looks to continue to build upon the organization’s success at 1.5-mile tracks.  Kenseth will start Sunday’s 400-mile event from the 18th starting position in the No. 17 Ford EcoBoost Fusion.

NASCAR’s Sprint Cup series had two practices Friday afternoon.  The No. 17 team worked on race trim set-ups during the first session, and then worked on both race and qualifying set-ups in the final practice of the weekend.  During both sessions, Kenseth told his team that he was fighting some handling challenges which found his Ford EcoBoost Fusion tight in the middle and loose off.

Qualifying for the series began at 11:10am CST and Kenseth was the 34th car to take to the track for qualifying, and he ran a fast lap time of 30.948 seconds (174.486 mph) which placed him 18th overall.

The STP 400 at Kansas Speedway will be televised on Sunday, April 22nd starting at 1:00pm EST on FOX, with radio coverage presented by the Motor Racing Network (MRN).
