BROOOKLYN, MI – (August 11, 2008) IRWIN® Industrial Tools returns to Michigan to celebrate with the 2007 Ultimate Tradesman Challenge (UTC) champion Bruce Quigley, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Jamie McMurray and the No. 26 Roush Fenway racing team.
Quigley, who hails from nearby Clarkston, Michigan, is the 2007 UTC champion. He earned that title by besting over 9,000 professional tradesmen in a timed challenge using IRWIN® professional grade hand tools and power tool accessories. He will be the guest of honor at a private party at Jerry’s Pub in Brooklyn, Michigan. The barbeque is the final prize in a remarkable package including over $100,000 worth of cash and prizes including a custom Roush Performance F-150 truck.
“This has been an amazing experience,” said Quigley, “It’s still hard to believe that I won the 2007 challenge, I relive the experience every time I start my blue-and-yellow, supercharged Ford F-150! Everyone at IRWIN® Industrial Tools has been great and they continue to spoil me.”
Quigley owns Bruce A. Quigley Construction Co. and won the competition with a time of 20.40 seconds last fall at Phoenix International Raceway. He now has another exciting weekend scheduled, in addition to the barbeque, he will also receive a private tour of the Roush Auto Collection Museum and the Roush Performance Headquarters located in nearby Livonia, Michigan.
The Roush Automotive Collection, located in the Detroit Metropolitan area, is a 30,000 sq. ft. private facility. Housed within the collection are a wide variety of displays, multi-media exhibits, artifacts, memorabilia and 110+ vehicles dedicated to the preservation of the heritage of Roush Enterprises. The collection contains educational exhibits of products and processes from Roush as a supplier of technological services to the automotive industry, aviation industry and other manufactured goods businesses
“Bruce is a great example of why we are involved in NASCAR and why we hold the Ultimate Tradesman Challenge,” said Eric Rich, Director of Marketing. “He earns a living with his hands, using our tools. He works hard and we are glad we are able to reward him and others like him. This barbeque is a celebration of a job well done for tradesmen everywhere and especially for our reigning UTC champion.”
IRWIN® Industrial Tools has extended its Ultimate Tradesman Challenge, kicking it off in Atlanta earlier this year.
To date, IRWIN® has executed over 100 events and have nearly 100 events remaining on the schedule. Local UTC events are conducted at professional tool distributors and home centers across the United States, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.
