Charlotte, N.C. (May 25, 2013) – Sporting a brand new sponsor this week, Roush Fenway Racing’s Trevor Bayne made the Pillow Pets brand proud by racking up his fourth top-10 finish of the season in the History 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS). Bayne and the No. 6 Pillow Pets Ford Mustang started in 21st position then picked apart the field, kept their pit stops fast, and made a strong run late in the race to finish in sixth place; second among NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) drivers.
Bayne and the No. 6 car sat in 13th place through the middle of the race until a chassis adjustment brought the car to life. “It became a top-three car,” said Bayne. He went on to say, “After the weeks we’ve had this feels about as good as a top-three or a win. You’ve got to walk before you can run, so we’re getting stronger this year.”
After a strong finish in the race, Bayne said it’s time for him to focus on running stronger early in the race. “I wish I could have given Mike Kelley a little bit more information at the beginning to make that adjustment with about two runs to go, because the car really came to life.”
Finishing second among NNS-points drivers bumped Bayne up one position in the standings into 11th place. He now sits 94 points behind NNS leader Regan Smith. The No. 6 team takes the track next week in Dover for the 5-Hour Energy 200.
