A little over two weeks ago, I started working for Roush Fenway Racing as the Account Manager for the No. 60 Team and Travis Pastrana. To say it has been a busy couple of weeks would be a huge understatement.
Usually when you start a new job, you get a few weeks to get up to speed. Not in NASCAR, and not when you start your new gig the week before the biggest race of the season! When my non-racing friends ask what’s going on with my new job, the only comparison I can make is, starting to work for the NFL the week before the Super Bowl.
I flew down to Daytona early, so I could shadow Nancy Padula during the Sprint Unlimited and the Duels. The rest of the week was filled with appearances, media, filming and running all over the place. I feel like I’ve covered over 500 miles on my own just walking around Daytona.
Today was FINALLY race day! In my (very) brief time with RFR, I’ve quickly seen how hard these crews work, so I was excited for the race – and maybe just a tick nervous. Although Travis was involved in a last-lap accident, the No. 60 Ford Mustang was able to come home in the top-10. One down, 32 to go! On to Phoenix!
