Reed Finishes 11th in Loudon

LOUDON, N.H. (July 12, 2014) – Ryan Reed traveled to New Hampshire Motor Speedway coming off his career-best finish of fourth and attempting to claim the $100,000 ‘Dash 4 Cash’ prize.  The Roush Fenway Racing rookie had a strong No. 16 American Diabetes Association Drive to Stop DiabetesSM presented by Lilly Diabetes Ford Mustang, running in the top-10 for much of the race.  Ultimately, Reed crossed the finish line 11th.

“We ran in the top-10 most of the day,” Reed said.  “We definitely had a fast Ford Mustang.  I think coming into Daytona last week we decided that race was going to be the reset button.  The first half of the year was about learning and now we were going to go racing.  If we keep doing that, we will be in good shape.”

The NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) set the starting lineup on Saturday morning, with Reed landing his No. 16 Mustang in 13th.  At the drop of the green flag, Reed settled into 11th.  The rookie driver broke his way into the top-10 by Lap 72, reporting to the crew that his car was a little tight in the center, but he was happy with the handling overall.

Crew Chief Seth Barbour called Reed down pit road for the first time of the day under green on Lap 81, calling for four tires, fuel and no adjustments.  The long green flag run, combined with green flag pit stops, dropped Reed from the lead lap.  A timely caution allowed Reed to return to the lead lap, utilizing the free pass.  He took that opportunity to visit pit road for a fuel only pit stop.

Reed restarted ninth and began to work his way through the pack, climbing all the way up to sixth by Lap 112.  On Lap 141, Barbour called Reed down pit road for the final time under caution.  The team took right side tires and added fuel.

Reed lined up seventh for the restart, but dropped back to 11th when the green flag flew.  He maintained that position for the remainder of the race, finishing one spot behind fellow ‘Dash 4 Cash’ competitor Regan Smith.
