Roush Fenway, NASCAR Fire Up The Engines on 2013 Season

Daytona Beach, Fla. (Feb. 15, 2013) – The engines will fire on the 2013 season later here today at Daytona International Speedway, when the Gen6 cars take the track for Sprint Unlimited practice at the World Center of Speed.

Roush Fenway will field a pair of Ford Fusions in the all-star kick off event with Greg Biffle and Carl Edwards entered via last season’s pole wins.

Roush Fenway has one victory in the event, coming in 1999 with the No. 6 Ford. RFR has fielded a car in the race in each year since 1989.  All-in-all nine different drivers have driven for Roush Fenway in the event, making a total of 51 starts with the victory and a pair of runner-up finishes.

This season the 75-mile race will feature 19 drivers, with a format decided by fan vote.

The Sprint Unlimited is set for Saturday night at 8:10 p.m. EST and will be televised by FOX. Practice for next week’s Daytona 500 begins tomorrow.
