Hampton, Ga. (Sept. 1,2012) – Ricky Stenhouse Jr. took advantage of a late caution and overtook Kevin Harvick on the final restart of Saturday night’s Nationwide Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The win moved Stenhouse to within 12 points of the NASCAR Nationwide Series points lead.
Stenhouse led only 16 laps in the race, but had his No. 6 Cargill Ford Mustang in first position when it counted most to score his fourth victory of the season.
The victory is Stenhouse’s sixth career NASCAR victory. It marked Roush Fenway’s 13th NASCAR victory at Atlanta and its seventhin the Nationwide Series. Stenhouse becomes the fifth Roush Fenway driver to win for Roush Fenway in Atlanta.
The win is RFR’s record-extending 129th in theNationwide Series and the team’s record-extending 307th overallNASCAR win.
Roush Fenway and NASCAR return to action on Sunday night for the 500-mile Sprint Cup Race at AMS. The race will be televised live by ESPN, with coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m.
