Straight from the 2008 RFR Fan of the Year: Jon's All-Star Race Preview

Hey there, Roush Fenway Racing fans!

"I hope all of you are doing well these days.  It's hard to believe that it is about the middle of May already!  Where does the time go?  I guess that means it's time for racing at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte during the next two weeks, and I am getting excited about it for sure!

"Last week at Darlington, our RFR drivers were having awesome runs the majority of the night, but as luck would have it, Carl, David, and Jamie got into some trouble on the track and had to make repairs to their cars.  Greg and Matt also had strong cars throughout, but we came up short again at the Cup level all around.  It's frustrating for sure, but in my heart, I believe that luck will change for the better real soon.  The Roush Fenway Racing organization is overdue for a trip back to victory lane in the Cup Series, and I sure am hoping and praying it's going to happen in the next two weeks!  Maybe our teams can relax a little bit this week, since there is no points racing occurring until the 600 on May 24th, and everyone can re-focus for the year's longest race and bring a win home that Sunday evening.

"I do want to congratulate the RFR Nationwide Series teams for outstanding runs at Darlington last weekend.  You are all doing very well this year.  Also, nice job, Erik Darnell, on bringing home a fourth place finish (Erik is from my home state of Illinois, of course) and to Carl for finishing third.  Of course let’s not forget Matt's victory in the #16 CitiFinancial Ford Fusion.  Keep it going guys!

"And now on to the All-Star race on Saturday night.  I've always personally enjoyed the All-Star festivities in NASCAR.  It's a nice break for the teams, and the racing is full-out the whole time.  The showdown race and the All-Star race are awesome entertainment for the fans.  Everyone is racing their hardest on just about every lap.  I hope Matt, Greg, and Carl do well in the All-Star race, and I hope Jamie and David can find their way into the big showcase as well, either by winning the showdown race or getting voted in by the fans.  Speaking of, please go on line and vote for Jamie and David to get in!  We (RFR fans) are the greatest fans and we should vote like crazy to get our guys into the last race!  I encourage everyone to go and vote for David and Jamie.

"My students are also learning about the All-Star race in our morning discussions.  They seem excited about the fact that these guys are racing for a lot of money and get to have some fun while doing so!  Money always opens the eyes of 10 and 11 year olds!  They are, as well as myself, very excited for Saturday night's non-points racing action.  A few of my students, Dominic, Keith, Davey, Paul, David, Meghan, Alex, Brandon, and Nathan (pictured above) are showing their support for the drivers of Roush Fenway Racing and some of their fantastic sponsors.  We are all cheering for you guys!  Good luck this weekend!  Go get 'em!"
