Concord, N.C. (Oct. 13, 2012) – Ricky Stenhouse Jr. finished in the 35th position after suffering a mechanical issue late in the Bank of America 500 race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
“Of course this is not the night we wanted,” said Stenhouse. “Our No. 6 Best Buy Ford started out tight but we were able to work our way up towards the front. I am not sure what happened, something just wasn’t right.
“The seat time in the Sprint Cup Series is very valuable and I learned a lot tonight. I have to thank Best Buy for coming on board and can’t wait to build our relationship next year. We have one more Cup race this season so hopefully we will have a solid finish.”
In only his fourth career Sprint Cup series start, the 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Champion started Saturday night’s Bank of America 500 in the 29th position and quickly maneuvered his way up into the top-20 by lap 15.
As the laps dwindled, Stenhouse battled a tight No. 6 Best Buy Ford Fusion. With differences in pit strategy, the Olive Branch, Mississippi native was running in the 25th position before suffering a mechanical issue.
Stenhouse will attempt one more Sprint Cup race this 2012 season at Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 18. Race coverage starts at 2 p.m EDT on ESPN.
