Robin Johnson serves as Executive Vice President of Business Development for NASCAR 2003 and 2004 Sprint Cup Series Champion Roush Fenway Racing. Johnson leads and directs Roush Fenway Racing’s sales and business development initiatives and was instrumental in securing (for Roush Fenway Racing) what is arguably the most respected sponsorship base in all of professional sports. Roush Fenway’s list of partners includes AAA Automotive Clubs (51 million members), The 3M Company, Dish Network, DEWalt Tools, Diageo plc (Crown Royal brand), Irwin Tools, Office Depot, Aflac, Discount Tire Company, The Coca-Cola Company, Scotts Miracle-Gro Company, Kraft Foods, Northern Tool + Equipment, Arby’s Restaurant Group, and CitiFinancial, among others.
Born in Marion, SC, Johnson is a 1986 Honor Graduate of The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina. Upon graduation, he received a commission from the U.S. Air Force and was the number-one graduate of the U.S. Air Force’s Intelligence School in 1987. Thereafter, he was entrusted with a Top Secret/SCI security clearance and served as an electronic combat and signals intelligence officer at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, Alaska. While on active duty, Johnson directed the monitoring of unsecured Department of Defense communications, drafted security disclosure reports for the President and Joint Chiefs of Staff, and directed the activities of 35 intelligence specialists, analysts, and linguists. He also earned an MBA degree from the University of LaVerne during this tour of duty. In 1990, he was honorably discharged from the Air Force in order to attend the University of South Carolina’s School of law on the G.I. Bill.
While attending the University of South Carolina School of Law, Johnson earned American Jurisprudence Awards for obtaining the highest grades in Contracts, Constitutional Law, and Corporations. He was also a member of the South Carolina Law Review. In 1993, Johnson graduated cum laude from The University of South Carolina School of Law and accepted a position in New York with the law firm Sullivan & Cromwell, where he specialized in securities, acquisitions, and commercial law. Johnson joined Roush Fenway Racing in 2000.
Johnson is married to Emily Linder Johnson of Bennettsville, SC, and they have three children – Erin, Lachlan and Jake. The Johnson Family resides in Davidson, North Carolina.
