Reed Returns Home To California For First Time Since Daytona Win

FONTANA, Calif. (Feb. 18, 2015) – Since his win in the NASCAR XFINITY Series season opener at Daytona International Speedway in February, Ryan Reed has celebrated with his team, his sponsor, and a few friends and family members. This weekend, Reed finally has the chance to return home for a little rest and celebration with his home state fans, friends and family.

“We have been so busy since Daytona I don’t think the win has really sunk in,” said Reed. “This will be the first weekend since before the season started that I will get to see a lot of my friends and family and be able to celebrate with them. Hopefully we will be able to celebrate a good finish after Saturday’s race in addition to the Daytona win.”

Reed’s record at this point in the season compared to his 2014 rookie year is something to celebrate in itself. After four races in 2014, Reed sat 14th in the championship standings. At the same point this season, Reed is currently third and has an average finish of 11.2.

Reed’s first appearance at Auto Club Speedway (ACS) left him with an unsatisfying 17th-place finish after starting 15th.

“I grew up going to Auto Club to watch my dad race in the NASCAR K&N West Series and always dreamed I would race there too,” said Reed. “While my first time racing on Auto Club’s worn-out surface wasn’t the easiest, I’m excited to get our Lilly Diabetes American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang back on track in Fontana. I learned a lot about what line I should run on the track depending on how my car is handling and I feel much more prepared going into this year’s race.”

Reed will take to the track in front of his home state crowd for two practice sessions on Friday, March 20 and start the day off Saturday, March 21 with group qualifying.

Qualifying for Saturday’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race at ACS will air on FOX Sports 1 on Saturday, March 21 at 9:30 a.m. PDT.

The fifth NASCAR XFINITY Series race of the season from ACS will air on FOX Sports 1 on Saturday, March 21 at 1 p.m. PDT.
