Sadler Finishes 11th At Chicagoland

JOLIET, Ill. (June 21, 2015) – Roush Fenway Racing’s Elliott Sadler finished in 11th-place during Sunday’s NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) race at Chicagoland Speedway. Sadler qualified third for the 200 lap event on Saturday afternoon, but rain storms postponed the race from Saturday night to Sunday at noon.Sadler started off well and on Lap 25 when the competition caution came out, the No. 1 OneMain Financial Ford Mustang was still in third-place. Following the caution, Sadler battled handling conditions for the majority of the race. Sadler drifted as far back as 15th, but was able to pass four cars in the final laps. Sadler crossed the finish line in the 11th position.

“Today was a frustrating race for me and my team,” Sadler said after the race.  “After qualifying third on Saturday, we collectively thought we had a great shot at winning the race. However, during the race, we struggled on catching up to the changing track conditions. My car ran well on long runs, but we battled on the short runs with either being too tight or too loose. On the good note, this was the first race with our new car and we found some valuable insights for the upcoming races.”

Sadler started from the third position for the rain-delayed NXS race on Sunday. The competition caution came out on Lap 25 and Sadler entered pit road in the third position. The team added four tires, one can of fuel and made a small adjustment to the track bar. Following the caution, Sadler drifted back a few positions on the restart from a loose handling car to the sixth position.

After a long green flag run, Sadler worked his way up two spots to the forth position. On Lap 75, Sadler came down pit road under green for four fresh tires, fuel and the crew made another track bar adjustment.

The adjustments on the second stop didn’t work out the best and at the halfway point Sadler drifted back to ninth.

The yellow flag came out again on Lap 127 when the No. 74 car came to a stop on the back stretch. At the time of the caution Sadler was scored 11th. Sadler came down pit road with the field and pitted for four tires, fuel and the crew made a wedge and track bar adjustment. Sadler restarted 12th.

After the pit stop, Sadler radioed in that the car is still crazy loose. Sadler’s Ford drifted back to 15thwith only 35 laps remaining in the race.

In the final laps of the race, Sadler was able to catch a few cars on the long green flag run. Sadler’s No. 1 OneMain Financial Ford Mustang crossed the finish line in the 11th position.

The XFINITY Series is off next weekend, but Sadler and his No. 1 OneMain Financial Ford Mustang will be back in action the following week at Daytona International Speedway.
