Biffle Qualifies 13th at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Census 2010/3M Ford Fusion

Hampton, Ga. (March 5, 2010) – After turning in the ninth fastest lap in practice, Greg Biffle was looking forward to qualifying.  Luck was not on his side, however, when drawing for qualifying order took place.  He would go out sixth just as the sun was setting in turns one and two of Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Despite having nearly no visibility entering turn one, Biffle turned in a lap time of 29.049 which was good enough for a qualifying position of 13th for Sunday’s race.  He and the team were disappointed as they knew the car was much faster than that.  They do, however, remain encouraged about their chances on Sunday even if they have to come from a little further back in the field than they had planned.

“I just couldn’t see anything," said Biffle.  "I was trying to reference where the wall was so I didn’t hit it and I couldn’t see anything at all.  As far as Sunday goes, though, I feel pretty good.  It’s not any fun starting from the back, but I think we’ve got a pretty good car.  We’re just looking forward to tomorrow’s practice to try and fine tune it.  We only got two runs today in race trim, so we’ll see about tomorrow and see if we can’t get it better.”

The Kobalt Tools 500 will air live on FOX this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET.  Be sure to tune in to NASCAR Now on ESPN Sunday morning for “Breakfast with the Biff” between 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. ET.  Biffle will also make an appearance on NASCAR Raceday on Speed at 10:30 a.m. ET.
