Braun Looks to Build on California Finish with Solid Run at Las Vegas

Concord, N.C. (February 24, 2010) – While the finish may not have indicated it, Colin Braun made strides in his first Nationwide Series start at Auto Club Speedway last weekend.  After falling a lap down during green flag pit stops, the rookie kept himself in position to receive the free pass and get back on the lead lap, where he finished, in a clean race car.

“As a team, we obviously want to be up front contending for top-10s and top fives every week which I hope we will.  I’m learning though that I need to crawl before I can walk,” Braun said.  “That includes goals like finishing on the lead lap and bringing home a clean car every weekend.  When I’m able to master those things, the top-10s, top-fives and even wins will come.”

Braun will again be piloting the white, No. 16 Roush Fenway Racing Ford Fusion in his first Nationwide Series start at Las Vegas this weekend and he understands that a good finish has potential implications beyond seeing his car number atop the scoring pylon.  While Con-way Freight is the primary sponsor for the No. 16 car this season, Roush Fenway Racing continues to seek partners for the remaining unsold races on Braun’s schedule.

“I think it’s been a while since an unsponsored car has been to victory lane and I’d really like to do well in Las Vegas to show folks that we have a team and an organization that they want to be a part of,” Braun said.  “Roush Fenway Racing has such a deep history of bringing drivers up through the ranks and helping them become successful.  Having strong partners on board has made that a possibility and they (RFR) are looking to add to that list.”

The Sam’s Town 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway airs Saturday on ESPN2 at 4:00 p.m. EST.
