Edwards Snags the pole at RFR Home Track

Brooklyn, M.I. (June 15, 2013) – Edwards, returning to RFR owner Jack Roush’s ‘home track’ and sitting just miles from Ford Motor Company, snagged the pole in yesterday’s qualifying round in the No. 99 Fastenal Ford and one-tenth of a second faster than second place contender Kurt Busch.

“I am happy with that lap,” said Edwards. “I don’t think I could go any faster if I ran it again. A couple guys might go fast or faster. There are some really fast cars here. I am really proud of that though.”

This weekend, Roush Fenway Racing hopes to fulfill its 23rd and 24th NASCAR victories at the two-mile oval and for the Missouri native to snag his second victory of the 2013 season and Ford’s 1000th win.

“Hopefully we can put a Roush Fenway Ford in victory lane,” Edwards continued. “It is so cool to run here at Michigan. The fans are great and Ford Motor Company is so great for us. We’ve had fun the last couple of days driving all their new products and for Jack Roush, if we can do well here it is really cool.”

Coverage of the Quicken Loans 400 from Michigan International Raceway begins at 1 p.m. EST on TNT.
