Bristol, Tenn. (March 16, 2013) - Ricky Stenhouse Jr and the No. 17 team traveled to the World’s Fastest Half-Mile this weekend. The Sprint Cup rookie of the year contender qualified 28th for Sunday’s Food City 500 but an engine change during the first practice will force him to fall to the rear of the field for the start of the race.
“It definitely could have been better,” Stenhouse said. “I was just glad we got out there after changing the engine and going through the tech line. It was a great job by the guys. We only had one qualifying run there in practice and we picked up quite a bit on that run there. I was just a little loose in. We’ll go to work tomorrow and get our No. 17 Best Buy Ford ready for the race.”
The two-time Nationwide champion was the eighth car to take to the track for his qualifying effort. The No. 17 Best Buy Ford Fusion posted a fast lap time of 15.165 seconds (126.528 mph) earning Stenhouse the 28th- starting position for Sunday’s 500-lap race.
The Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway will be televised on Sunday, March 17th starting at 1 p.m. EST on FOX, with radio coverage presented by the Performance Racing Network (PRN) and SIRIUS radio channel 90.
