Concord, N.C. (December 4, 2009) – Drew Blickensderfer, crew chief of the No. 17 Ford, won the Moog Problem Solver of the Year Award for 2009.  This marks the first time Blickensderfer has won the award coming of a season that included winning the Daytona 500 and following that up with a win at the Auto Club Speedway the next weekend.  Blickensderfer led his team to two wins, one pole, seven top-five and 12 top-10 finishes in 2009, his first full-season as crew chief for Matt Kenseth and the No. 17 team.

“It is an honor to win the Moog Problem Solver of the Year Award,” said Blickensderfer.  “Moog products are second-to-none.  That is why we use their ball joints and tie rod ends in every one of the No. 17 Fords that hit the race track.  Reliability and consistency are two of the major things we look for in outside vendors and Moog excels at both.”

Sponsored by Federal-Mogul Corporation (NASDAQ: FDML), manufacturer of MOOG chassis parts, the MOOG Problem Solver of the Race Award is presented following each Sprint Cup race to the crew chief whose car delivers the largest increase in average lap speed from the first half to the second half of an event while finishing on the lead lap. The MOOG Problem Solver of the Year Award is presented to the crew chief with the best overall performance throughout the 36-race season.

Blickensderfer’s award marks the second year in a row that a Roush Fenway crew chief has won the coveted award.  Bob Osborne, crew chief of the No. 99 Aflac Ford, won in 2008.
