Edwards Continues Points Lead After Finishing Fourth in Bristol

Bristol, Tenn. (March 20, 2010) – Edwards completed another consecutive top-five finish after finishing fourth in Saturday’s Scotts Turf Builder 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway. With this run Edwards continues his series’ points lead over second place Brad Keselowski.

“Today was a good solid day…we led some laps, Edwards said. We didn’t extend our points lead and I messed up that one pit stop. But, my guys were so good on pit road that we rallied back from that and we’ve had consecutive top-fives all season.  Overall it was a good day for our Copart/Fastenal Ford Fusion.”

Edwards started fourth in his No. 60 Copart Ford and was able to stay in the lead pack throughout the afternoon.

Early on in the race Edwards communicated to the crew that the car was a little free going into the corners. Crew Chief Drew Blickensderfer called for an air pressure adjustment along with four fresh tires and fuel. By lap 92 the leaders started to head down pit road for their first pit stop of the day. By lap 123 Edwards had taken over the lead from Kasey Kahne on the high side of turn-three.

On lap 148, the leaders dropped onto pit road one more time. Edwards slid into his pit overshooting his pit stall costing the No. 60 team valuable time. The team put two new tires on. Edwards exited in the 17th position. During the second half of the race Edwards was able to dig away at the field and eventually get back into the top five. In the end, Just Allgaier went on to win the race.  Edward crossed the finish line in fourth place.

The NASCAR Nationwide Series will take next week off before heading to the Music City (Nashville), where Edwards has three wins and eight top ten finishes.
