Indianapolis, Ind. (July 29, 2013) – Roush Fenway Racing’s (RFR) Trevor Bayne battled back to a 16th-place finish in Saturday’s Indiana 250 Nationwide Series race at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Bayne’s Pillow Pets Ford Mustang was one of the fastest cars on the racetrack, running second much of the race before a late-race incident dropped him back 22nd on a late-restart.
With only a handful of laps to go, the Daytona 500 winner never gave up; fighting to the 16th-place finish.
“We had a great Pillow Pets Ford Mustang today,” said Bayne. “The car was just about perfect for most of the race. It was a great overall job by the team. We had some trouble on that late restart, but were able to come back and finished 16th we will take this and move on to Iowa, where we expect to be strong again.”
Bayne started third, based on a strong outing in the morning qualifying session. The No. 6 was a consistent top-five car on the day; leading two laps and earning one bonus point. He leaves Indy ninth in the NNS point standings; 64 markers outside of first.
RFR and the Nationwide Series return to action next week at Iowa Speedway, where Bayne won earlier this season and RFR has won the last four races.
