Bayne Finishes 11th in Texas

Fort Worth, Texas (November 4, 2013) – After posting the fastest time in final practice on Friday, Roush Fenway Racing’s Trevor Bayne finished 11th in Saturday’s O'Reilly Auto Parts 300 at Texas Motor Speedway.

After laying down the quickest lap in final practice on Friday, Bayne went on to post the fourth-quickest time in qualifying on Saturday, setting the stage for a solid showing later in the afternoon.

As the green flag flew, Bayne began battling a tight race car. By Lap 16, Bayne radioed in that his car had no rear grip and was extremely tight through the center.  Crew Chief Mike Kelley told his young driver that the crew would make changes during the first pit stop.

Bayne worked his way up to the sixth by the time Kelley called him into the pits. A track bar adjustment, along with four tires and two cans of fuel was the call.

Soon after the first pit stop of the day, Bayne told the team that the car was still too tight, but the adjustments were headed in the right direction.

The caution flew on Lap 70, which allowed Kelley to call Bayne down pit road. The pit crew made another track bar adjustment and added a splash of fuel. Back under green, Bayne told Kelley that his car was still too loose on and off of the corners, but through the center the car was good.

On Lap 160, Kelley called for a wedge adjustment as well as an air pressure adjustment to help the handling of the No. 6 Mustang.  The team sent Bayne out to blend into the field in 14th. The adjustments seemed to help as Bayne battled back to gain a few positions as the race came to a close.

Bayne fought to stay in the top-10 for the majority of the race, eventually crossing the line in the 11th.
