Sonoma, Calif. (June 20, 2009) – Matt Kenseth maneuvered his No. 17 DEWALT Ford Fusion around the complex series of twists and turns ofn the 12-turn road course of Infineon Raceway in 77.097 (92.922 mph) to qualify 10th for Sunday’s Save Mart 350 in Sonoma. Kenseth, who earned his first career top-10 at the road course last season, will start inside of row three; his best starting position at the track in five years.

“It was really good,” said Kenseth, who was the top Roush Fenway qualifier of the day. “We picked up three-tenths from our mock-up run, which is good because getting to do it the same twice is always easier said than done.  I felt good about it.  We didn’t make any changes and we picked up a little speed, so overall it was a good run.  I would have liked to have run just a little quicker, but I thought I hit it pretty good.”

Kenseth was the second fastest Ford qualifier as well, behind only road course race specialist Boris Said, who qualified ninth in the No. 08 Ford. Brain Vickers captured the pole with a time of 76.467 (93.678 mph).

The DEWALT Team was 14th fastest (77.405, 92.552 mph) in the morning practice session on Friday. The teams have two more practice sessions on Saturday. Infineon Raceway is the only track on the NASCAR Sprint Cup circuit where Kenseth has yet to lead a lap.

Tomorrow’s race will be televised live by TNT with the green flag set to drop at 5:16 p.m. EDT. Prerace coverage is set for 3:30 p.m.
