Darlington, S.C. (May 11, 2013) – Roush Fenway Racing’s (RFR) Carl Edwards turned in a seventh-place finish at Darlington Raceway in Saturday night’s Southern 500 to lead the RFR effort at the “track too tough to tame.”
Edwards saved the best for last, steadily working through the field and closing out with his seventh top-10 finish of the season. Greg Biffle turned in a 13th-place run and RFR rookie Ricky Stenhouse Jr. battled back from multiple laps down to finish 18th in his Darlington Sprint Cup debut.
With the finish Edwards remains second in the Sprint Cup point standings (-44). Biffle is 13th (-112) and Stenhouse is 16th (-141) after 11 races.
Roush Fenway and the NASCAR Sprint Cup circuit take a week off from point racing for next weekend’s Sprint All-Star race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. RFR has won the All-Star race on four occasions, including with Edwards in 2011.
