Concord, N.C. (Feb. 28, 2013) - Ricky Stenhouse Jr. visited troops at Luke Air Force base in Phoenix, Arizona on Thursday. As part of the USO effort, the two-time reigning Nationwide Champion met with service men and women and their families to talk racing and extend thanks for all of their efforts and sacrifices.
“The sacrifices these men and women make for our country is remarkable,” Stenhouse said. “This is my second USO Tour and I always leave in amazement. Because of the men and women in the armed forces, we enjoy many freedoms including getting to race each and every weekend. They are true heroes.”
The NASCAR Sprint Cup rookie alongside fellow Ford driver, Joey Logano, visited Germany and Kuwait in December 2012 as part of his first USO tour and visited with more than 655 military personnel.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will make his first Sprint Cup start at Phoenix International Raceway on Sunday, March 3 during the Subway Fresh Fit 500. Stenhouse has six previous Nationwide starts at PIR earning six top-10s and three top-five finishes.
