Concord, N.C. (October 9, 2009) – Roush Fenway Racing announced today it has signed Chris Buescher to a driver development contract. Buescher has spent the 2009 season competing part time in the ARCA RE/MAX Series under the direction of Gary Roulo and Roulo Brothers Racing. In just six starts so far this season he has three top-five and four top-10 finishes including an outside pole and a pole at Salem Speedway where Buescher set an ARCA record by becoming the youngest pole winner in the 57 years of ARCA Racing. This weekend he will again pilot the No. 17 David Ragan Fan Club Ford in Rockingham, N.C., for the ARCA Series’ final race of the season.
“I’ve worked really hard and it’s taken a long time, but I’m very glad to be where I am,” said Buescher. “Roush is one of the top teams out there and to be associated with them is an honor. This year was a big step. I’ve learned a lot this year and am really looking forward to next year.
Gary Roulo has worked closely with Roush Fenway Racing over the years and has worked most notably with David Ragan and Erik Darnell. In Roulo’s first season working with Buescher he sees a lot of promise and great achievements in a just a few races.
“With the experience level Chris had coming into this at just 16 years old he has really done a great job. He has progressed very well. Even with this being a development program we have been up front and contending for wins in just a handful of races. We have a lot of confidence in Chris’s ability and look forward to moving forward with him.”
In 2010 Buescher will continue to run a part-time ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule with Roulo Brothers in association with Roush Fenway Racing.
