Tough Ending to Strong Effort in Budweiser Shootout for Roush Fenway Fleet

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 6, 2010) – Roush Fenway Racing’s three entries ran strong during Saturday night’s Budweiser Shootout, but the effort met a tough ending with all three cars (No. 16, No. 17 and the No. 99) getting caught up in a last lap accident. In the end Greg Biffle, Matt Kenseth and Carl Edwards finished 15th, 16th and 17th.

Carl Edwards started on the pole and dominated the first third of the event. Greg Biffle took the lead late and led coming to the green with two laps to go and Matt Kenseth was up to third position before the race’s final caution. Biffle restarted in first position on the final restart with only two laps to go in the event, but had a right tire going down and was hit from behind causing a multi-car pileup on the race’s final lap of green flag racing.

Kevin Harvick won the event under yellow.

The teams will take a break from action before returning to action for Daytona 500 practice on Wednesday, Feb. 10th.

Sunday’s Daytona 500 (200 laps, 500 miles) is set for 1:00 p.m. and will be televised live by FOX.
