Wallace Earns Season-Best Finish At Texas Motor Speedway

FORT WORTH, Texas (April 11, 2015) – Roush Fenway Racing’s Bubba Wallace and the No.6 AdvoCare team came to Texas Motor Speedway with a quick Mustang.  Wallace battled for position inside the top-five for the majority of Friday evening’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race at the 1.5-mile track, earning his best finish of the season, crossing the line in sixth.

“That was good,” said Wallace.  “It was a bummer because I knew we were a little bit faster than that, we just didn’t have lateral grip pretty much the whole race.  Chad and the guys gave a hell of an effort this weekend.  Huge thanks to AdvoCare for jumping on board our Ford Mustang and making this an exciting weekend.  I definitely had a lot of fun and Texas never disappoints.  It was a good rebound from the fall truck race I had here.  It wasn’t a win but we’ll take a sixth and build off this.  It’s our best finish of the year for us in the XFINITY Series, so I’m just thankful for all of it.”

Friday afternoon’s qualifying session netted the No. 6 AdvoCare team an eighth-place starting position.  From the drop of the green, Wallace remained inside the top-10 during the opening run of the race, informing crew chief Chad Norris that his Mustang was a little too free.

An early caution allowed Norris to call his young driver down pit road on Lap 17 for four tires, fuel and a chassis adjustment.

The rookie of the year contender raced inside the top-five, working his way up to second as the race approached the halfway mark.  Wallace grabbed the lead on Lap 122 as green flag pit stops began cycling through.

Wallace’s No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Mustang was still too loose when he visited pit road under green flag conditions for four tires, fuel and a track bar adjustment.  As green flag pit stops continued to cycle through, the caution flew, leaving Wallace in 11th.

The No. 6 lined up 11th for the final restart of the evening on Lap 174.  Wallace picked up five positions in the closing laps to cross the finish line in sixth.

With the result, Wallace gains one position in the NASCAR XFINITY Series point standings and is now in fourth as the series travels to Bristol Motor Speedway.
